GOAL AND OBJECTIVE: The goal of the WDMESC Media Center is to improve student achievement by providing appropriate instructional materials and prompt, friendly service to all educators in the co-op area.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The WDMESC Media Center provides over 1944 educational video programs needed and scheduled by participating member districts. The Media Center also houses a Big Book Library for pre-school through First Grade. The Big Book Library contains 536 titles. Big Books may be ordered by teachers weekly. This has continued to be an extremely popular service. The Media Center includes a professional library that provides over 200 professional development programs including videos, facilitator guides, training materials, audio tapes, books, instructional packets, and other printed materials. These may be checked out to use with Study Groups as well as for presentations. Additionally the Media Center provides an Ellison service with over 1768 Ellison dies. The STEM center kits from Harding University are available to teachers in our cooperative districts. Teachers my check-out the kits by calling Tonya at 501-279-4167. The Media will deliver and pick-up the kits for the school. The WDMESC Media Center van makes weekly deliveries and pick-ups at all 62 school buildings in the WDMESC area. Each librarian has a media catalog. The media delivery clerk also distributes items for the Department of Education as well as for other agencies who need to place educational materials in our schools. The Teacher Center Committee gives direction and advice to the Teacher Center Coordinator and the Media Center Clerk that enables the media center services to be directly reflective of the needs of our member schools. The Teacher Center Committee and each school library Media Specialist provide vital input into the planning and operation of the WDMESC Media Center. WDMESC is currently collecting information from member districts concerning media needs and future services. |
